Private . . . Romantic . . . Awesome!
The Best Beach Ride in Southern California
Our signature Beach Ride is a 75+ minute experience set entirely on a truly secluded stretch of coastline—free from busy roads, railroad crossings, or freeway overpasses. From the moment you arrive, the world quiets, and the ride unfolds at the natural rhythm of the shore.
Located in Goleta, just north of Santa Barbara and adjacent to the iconic The Ritz-Carlton Bacara, we access Haskell’s Beach through a private, gated entry, ensuring an atmosphere that is remote, tranquil, and unspoiled. The beach itself is wide and expansive, framed by soft dunes and open horizons that invite you to slow down and take it all in.
This protected coastline is rich with life. Guests often spot pods of dolphins just offshore, pelicans gliding low over the waves, and—on occasion—a whale moving gracefully along the distant horizon. It is a place where nature feels present, undisturbed, and wonderfully alive.
It is not simply a beach ride—it is an immersion into one of Southern California’s most beautiful and quietly extraordinary coastal landscapes.
Seasonal Specials: Save $30 per Couple
Winter along the Santa Barbara coast is a season of quiet beauty—cooler air, golden light, and unhurried moments by the sea. It is an especially lovely time to experience a beach ride, whether you choose an early morning journey through soft coastal mist or an evening ride timed with a spectacular Pacific sunset.
To celebrate the season, we are pleased to offer our Winter Beach Ride Special, with $30 in savings per couple.
With this seasonal offering, Semi-Private Beach Rides are available at an all-inclusive rate of $180 per person on weekdays (excluding holiday weeks) and $195 per person on weekends. Private Rides may be reserved for an additional $25 per person, and special rates are available for families or groups of four or more.
As part of the experience, guests will also receive two complimentary two-for-one wine tasting certificates to enjoy at the wonderful Carr Winery. Wine tasting gift certificates are emailed upon booking, offering a seamless way to extend your day beyond the shore.
We also welcome inquiries for engagements, anniversaries, corporate outings, and our beloved Kid’s Horse Encounter for children ages 2–12—each thoughtfully tailored with the same care and attention that define our rides.
Winter passes quickly. This is a season best experienced slowly, in the saddle, with the sea beside you.

Statement Regarding Brand Hijacking
Statement by Bob Sweeney, Owner of Santa Barbara Beach Rides
Barbara Beach Rides
We get it — it’s confusing. 😅
Two “Santa Barbara Beach Ride” businesses. Same name. Different experiences.
Here’s how to make sure you’re riding with the original, family-owned Santa Barbara Beach Rides:
✅ Book at SBBEACHRIDES.COM
✅ In business since 2007
We have a copycat… but we take that as a compliment! 😅 We look forward to riding the waves with you. 🐎🌊

Santa Barbara Beach Rides was created in 2010 by Bob & Evie Sweeney. A lifelong member of the equine industry, Bob also owns Santa Ynez Valley Horseback Rides, a thriving 15-horse stable that takes visitors on horseback rides through wine country and the Santa Ynez River. When Santa Barbara Beach Rides was launched, Bob contracted with a horse trainer / vendor in Summerland to take our guests on the rides.
This vendor also, by the way, started a second business, Summerland Beach Rides, in 2016, offering the exact same rides while simultaneously servicing our customers. After loads of complaints and one settled lawsuit and several threats over safety, we mutually separated this summer and are now using our own experienced staff and horses.
Had they proceeded with their own “Summerland Beach Rides”, we would have no problem on our end, as there is plenty of room for all! Santa Barbara is wonderful that way. Instead, this vendor decided to brand hijack our business name, create a new website under our same name (www.santabarbarabeachrides.com), launch their own Facebook and Instagram accounts under the same name, and use a working Gmail address associated with our previous shared booking calendar to access our Google Business Profile, where they replaced our web address with their new one in an attempt to appear as the original business. Unfortunately, the unethicality of this is unsurprising, and reflects one of many reasons we separated. TMI, we know. But we feel our customers deserve the truth when trying to navigate two “Santa Barbara Beach Rides” for the time being.
We are sorry for this confusion as we attempt to navigate next steps (including legal action). You now have a choice in your beach rides experience, but we feel our customers deserve an explanation when trying to navigate the confusing landscape of two businesses with the same name. Regardless, we remain committed to providing our guests with the be-all, end-all bucket list experience of riding beautiful horses on beautiful beaches in one of the most incredible cities in the world: Santa Barbara. Nothing can take away from that mission.
With gratitude for your trust,
Bob & Evie Sweeney & the staff of Santa Barbara Beach Horseback Rides
